These boots are made for walking – New role, new skills, new opportunities

Ange Bowe
Angela Bowe is stepping into her latest role wearing a brand-new pair of steel cap boots.

The boots were a present from her workmates at Royal Wolf’s Gordon Office in Sydney to prepare her for a diverse new role doing everything from speaking with customers about container hire and sale opportunities and providing quotes, through to driving forklifts, cleaning containers, and managing yard logistics.

That’s where the steel caps come in.

“Safety is at the centre of everything we do at Royal Wolf, so they are the perfect present,” says Angela, who moves from Supervisor, National Account Services to take up the Inside Sales Rep (ISR) position at the Central Coast Branch in West Gosford.

“Because Central Coast is one of Royal Wolf’s smaller branches, I'll be doing a bit of everything,” she says.

“I’ll also be learning everything from the ground up, which is what I was looking for because in the future when I step back up into a management position, I want to be able to have a greater understanding, and hands on experience, of working across different areas within RoyalWolf.”

Opportunity knocks

After two years with Royal Wolf, Angela says it was time to try something different and took the opportunity to grow her skills.

“Royal Wolf is in a strong growth period, and I want to be prepared to ensure I’m in a position to be part of this expansion and growth. It’s about building my skills and experience for future opportunities.”

For Angela, not only is it a chance to learn new skills but also to be more hands on.

“I’ll get to see a completely different side of the business. The Gordon Office in Sydney was a corporate environment, whereas now I will be working in a depot environment, both on the phones and out in the yard.

“Having both corporate office experience and spending time in a branch will be a big differentiator for me in the future.”

With her personable nature, and a proven ability to build quality relationships, her key focus will be on connecting with local small and medium businesses and a wide range of other customers.

“I love talking to people and through my previous roles, and as Supervisor, National Account Services, I honed my customer service skills and really love helping people and businesses find the right container solution to meet their needs.”

More than just a steel box

After working in the property and health sectors, the container and logistics industry was a new world when she joined Royal Wolf in 2022.

“I was excited to learn about a new industry and I was surprised about how many things you can do with a shipping container. It's definitely not just a steel box.

“In my previous role I only dealt with a few different types of containers, but in my ISR role I’ll be exposed to our wider container product range which is extensive – so I have lots to learn.”
