Mission Impossible

Royal Wolf collaborate with Brisbane business man for philanthropic cause

If you had asked Adrian Massey or Jason Singh, Royal Wolf sales staff, 18 months ago if they ever thought they would be providing a container solution to transport shoes to Africa, their response would have probably been a flat out "no."

About 12 months ago, Adrian Massey & Jason Singh were approached to provide a solution to a client – with a twist.

“I was definitely surprised when I had a request to provide a solution to transport over 76,000 pairs of shoes to Zambia, Africa. At first, the mission just seemed impossible, however the cause behind the project was too good to turn down,” said Adrian.

The mission began with a Brisbane business man who had recently returned from a trip in Zambia. Playing witness to extreme poverty, Mr Danny Underwood cited children from the local Zambian orphanage playing sport on unlevelled, dry dirt, in bare feet.

Danny’s mission? To collect shoes for the children. Royal Wolf’s mission? To transport the shoes to the children.

“The exercise was by no means an easy task. Following an appeal to the Queensland community for shoes, we had a final number of 76,997 pairs of shoes to be transported. We had to ensure the solution would pass through all international travel requirements and come at a cost that was reasonable to the client,” said Adrian.

The job amounted to supplying the client with five 40HC containers, each specifically designed to meet CSC international travel shipping requirements within a short timeframe.

“Once the photos came back, and we saw the extreme excitement on the children’s smiling faces, it was clear that all the effort was worth it.”
