Meet Your Wolf Pack - Craig Baker

When Craig was interviewed for his role as National Removals Manager over 11 years ago, he was told ‘if we see you in the office, you’re probably not doing your job properly’. And he’s spent very little time confined to his desk ever since.

“Basically my customers are removal companies and I hire and sell them containers to solve their problems. My role is very customer focused. So I get to know what people need, and also what’s possible within their location. Some are in quite remote places, like Darwin and Alice Springs,” he says.

“Each town I visit around Australia has its own people”, Craig continues, “My customers are real salt of the earth people. They started from the basics and they’ve built their own successful companies but they haven’t changed much as people. They don’t mind sweating and doing some hard work. I like that sort of person. It’s nice having a beer with them and getting to know them.”

While Craig is busy all year round, he says November-February is the ‘busy season’, where 80% of all moves in Australia happen across corporate, government, defence and residential. “The first couple of years I worked in removals I never got time away over Christmas, but now I know the industry well I can work around it. Removalists have to work all throughout the holidays,” says Craig.

Outside of work, Craig loves watching the footy — especially rugby league and rugby union. He spends his weekends helping out as a water boy at his local colts club. An avid supporter of the NRL team Sydney Roosters, he’s even named his little English blue staffy after player James Tedesco.
