Royal Wolf Pops-up at Brunswick Street Mall

Visitors to Brisbane’s famed Brunswick Street Mall will now be treated to an exciting variety of free music, dance, comedy, event activations and more following the launch of ‘The Pod’, a purpose built performance space made from a converted shipping container.

In a collaboration between Brisbane Council and Royal Wolf, Australasia’s leading supplier of container solutions, the 20-foot high cube container has been completely transformed and now features an impressive fold-down stage, created from two awnings which extend the platform by one metre on each side, a secure storage area for key equipment and a brochure stand which will act as a tourist information hub. Brendon Greatrex, National Manufacturing Manager at Royal Wolf, said there is ‘pop-up container’ revolution sweeping the nation, as the events industry looks for practical, imaginative and cost effective portable building solutions. “Royal Wolf worked with Brisbane Council to design a functional yet impressive space available for commercial and community bookings.

Our expert modifications team have created a fantastic solution and in doing so, have sandblasted and painted the exterior of the container, installed electricity and lighting to illuminate the windows and even added a back light behind poster holders to promote events,” he said. Finance, Economic Development, and Administration Chairman, Julian Simmonds, said the new space named ‘The Pod’ was part of Council’s commitment to boosting the Fortitude Valley’s daytime economy.

“The Pod is an exciting addition to the Brunswick St Mall following it’s refurbishment in 2014 and is just one of the ways Council is attracting visitors at all times of the day,” Cr. Simmonds said. “The space adds a new element of excitement and energy to the popular precinct and we are offering the community a unique platform to showcase a fantastic program of live shows.”
