Yankalilla Council in South Australia required temporary, publicly accessible offices to house staff during an upgrade at their full-time office and visitor centre. They were seeking a hired solution that would make a good first impression on visitors, while being fully functional on delivery.
“We needed somewhere for our admin office, which is two people, and the transport team, which does community transport cars around the area for the people that need them,” says Darren Burgess, Team Leader of Tourism and Visitors at Yankalilla Council.
“We also needed something that would allow us to continue doing our jobs with minimum fuss and keep our team close and on site, rather than taking turns working from home.
“We wanted something that had a funky style about it and even though these are containers they’re really interesting and different.”

Solution
Royal Wolf worked closely with Yankalilla Council to ensure the outdoor room containers met their needs. This involved ongoing communication about dimensions of windows and interior space, delivery date/time, and advice on placement. The two containers were tested before delivery to ensure they would be fully operational on arrival. The Council can extend the hire for use by any other departments impacted by the upgrade process.
“We provided a solution that was fit for purpose, insulated, had power, heating and air conditioning and we did it within the lead time that was required. Once the order was placed, we had the two outdoor rooms delivered in three weeks,” says Stephen Laird, Royal Wolf Cavan Branch Manager.
“Before they were delivered, we completed our ‘pre-trip inspection process’, which means we did the electrical testing and tagging, mopped the floors, washed the exterior, and checked the locks and air conditioner to make sure their offices could be operational as soon as they were delivered.”

Outcome
“It’s basically been plug and play. As soon as they were delivered we were operational, we just had to plug in the power and move our furniture in,” says Darren. “Usually with things like this you can’t get wi-fi, but we can with these, so we got online easily and without a lot of cables.
“The rooms arrived the day they told us they would, they were clean, and anything we asked for, Royal Wolf gave to us straight away. It was a really smooth process, we couldn’t ask for anything more.”
